Hi! My name is Coco and I'm a mom. My journey to motherhood has been filled with happiness, love, excitement, and many challenges. From Trying to Conceive to Postpartum and now caring for my 2-year-old son, I’ve been seeking support to make my transition to motherhood easier. Here on Owemama, I share real stories, maternity-related tips and honest reviews. Let's navigate this journey together!
Fertility Supplements Recommended by Many:
- Maca Root has many benefits for female and male fertility. It is known for balancing hormones, improving sexual functions and libido, and even increasing energy and endurance.
- Prenatal Vitamins that contain folic acid, iron, and DHA are essential even before pregnancy.
- Coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10) is often recommended for egg quality, though the research also recommends it for male fertility; CoQ10 could significantly improve sperm count, motility and morphology. If you want to know more, you can read about my post: CoQ10 For Fertility: The Science Behind It
- Omega-3 Fatty Acids: Supports overall hormonal health and inflammation reduction.
Try Ovulation Tracking Tools:
- Ovulation Predictor Kits (OPKs): This helps you pinpoint your fertile window by detecting luteinizing hormone (LH) surges.
- Basal Body Temperature Thermometers: A method of tracking ovulation by recording your temperature every morning. One of my friends swore by it.
- Fertility Apps: Apps like Flo, or Ovia help track your menstrual cycle, symptoms, and ovulation patterns.
At-Home Fertility Tests:
- Sperm Quality Tests: For partners, sperm tests like Yo Sperm or Trak can be done at home to check sperm count and motility.
- Ovarian Reserve Tests: Products like the Modern Fertility Test or Everlywell can help test for hormone levels indicating your ovarian reserve (AMH levels).
Healthy Lifestyle Products:
- Probiotics: To maintain gut health, which affects hormonal balance.
- Organic Personal Lubricants: Some lubricants are fertility-friendly, like Pre-Seed, which doesn't harm sperm motility.
- Detox Teas and Herbal Supplements: Specific teas like raspberry leaf or detox kits to help cleanse your system.
Products from Trusted Brands:
- Bird&Be: I wrote a post about this brand. Their TTC bundle includes supplements, ovulation tests, and expert consultations.
- Fairhaven Health offers various fertility supplements, OPKs, and basal thermometers.
- Frida Fertility Kit: Known for simplifying TTC with tools like fertility trackers and prenatal vitamins. Frida is one of my favorite Maternity and Baby brands out there!
Fertility-Friendly Diet Products
- Fertility Superfoods: Introduce specific foods known to boost fertility, such as:
- Royal Jelly: For reproductive health and egg quality.
- Bee Pollen: Another fertility superfood packed with vitamins and antioxidants.
- Brazil Nuts: High in selenium, which supports sperm health and protects eggs from free radicals. I would eat it with dates in the morning because I personally didn’t like the taste.
Mental and Emotional Health Support
- Fertility Counseling or Support Groups: Create your support group and your TTC tribe. Communicate with other couples who are also trying to conceive, your loved ones, and your health care professionals.
- Books or Podcasts on TTC: I recommend educational and inspirational books/podcasts like "It Starts with the Egg" or "Big Fat Negative" for emotional support and information.
Male Fertility Supplements
- Fertility-Supporting Supplements: Products like FertilAid or Zinc and Selenium supplements, help sperm quality and motility.
- Antioxidant Supplements: Supplements rich in antioxidants, such as vitamins C and E, to support healthy sperm.
Holistic Approaches
- Acupuncture for Fertility: Acupuncture is gaining popularity as a way to improve fertility, balance hormones, and reduce stress.
- Essential Oils: Oils like Clary Sage or Lavender can support relaxation, hormonal balance, and stress relief.
- Meditation & Breathing Techniques: Incorporating breathing techniques into your routine can also support relaxation and provide overall health benefits. You can try the apps Calm or Headspace.
Hope this guide helps!
